Біяграфія

Заснавальнік навуковай храналогіі, спрабаваў устанавіць даты, звязаныя з гісторыяй Элады.

Доўгі час жыў у Александрыі, з 235 да н.э. — кіраўнік Александрыйскай бібліятэкі. Вызначыў даўжыню зямнога мерыдыяна.
