Isaac Titsingh (naskiĝis la 10-an de januaro 1745 en Amsterdamo, Nederlando; mortis la 2-an de februaro 1812 en Parizo, Francio) estis kirurgo, komercisto kaj nederlanda ambasadoro.
Biografio
[redakti | redakti fonton]Dum longa kariero en orienta Azio Titsingh estis altranga oficisto de la Nederlanda Kompanio de Orientaj Indioj (VOC). Li reprezentis la kompanion kiel oficiala kaj nura kontaktulo de la Tokugawa-klano en Japanio (1779-1784). Dufoje li vojaĝis al Edo kun la ŝoguno kaj aliaj altrangaj oficistoj de la bakufu. Poste li estis la ĝenerala guberniestro de VOC en Chinsura, Bengalio (1785-1792). Titsingh laboris kun Charles Cornwallis, kiu estis ĝenerala guberniestro de la Anglia Kompanio de Orientaj Indioj.
Titsingh iĝis unu el la administraciuloj de VOC en Batavio (1793-1794). En 1795, Titsingh reprezentis la interesojn de Nederlando kaj de la VOC en Ĉinio. Titsingh retiriĝis en Anglion kaj en Francion.
Li estas entombigita en la tombejo Père-Lachaise. Sur lia monumento estas surskribita: « Ĉi tie ripozas Isaac Titsingh. Iama konsilanto de la nederlandaj Indioj. Ambasadoro en Ĉinio kaj Japanio. Li mortis en Parizo la 2-an de februaro 1812, 68-jaraĝa. »
