Averil Millicent Cameron (Leek, 8 de febrero de 1940-) ha sido catedrática de Historia Tardoantigua y Bizantina en la Universidad de Oxford, así como directora del Keble College de Oxford entre 1994 y 2010.[1]​[2]​[3]​[4]​

Carrera

Anteriormente fue catedrática de Historia Antigua (1978–89) y catedrática de Estudios Tardoantiguos y Bizantinos (1989–94), así como directora fundadora del Centre for Hellenic Studies del King's College de Londres. En Oxford, fue Chair de la Conference of Colleges, y Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Chair del Comité de la Biblioteca Sackler y del Comité asesor en Honorary Degrees, así como vocal en los comités para Conflict of Interest, Select Preachers, Bampton Lectures y del Wainwright Fund. Es miembro de diversas instituciones académicas, incluyendo el Oxford Centre for Byzantine Research, el Institute of Classical Studies Advisory Council, el Cathedrals Fabric Commission for England (1999–2005), y del Prosopography of the Byzantine World.[5]​

Vida personal

Cameron nació en Leek, Staffordshire, como hija única de una familia de clase trabajadora. Estudió Literae Humaniores en el Somerville College de Oxford y contrajo matrimonio con Alan Cameron, con quien tiene un hijo y una hija.
