La cadherina 1 (CDH1 o CD324) es una proteína codificada en humanos por el gen CDH1.[1]
CDH1 es un gen supresor de tumores.[2][3] La proteína CDH1 es una cadherina clásica
perteneciente a la familia de las cadherinas. Esta proteína es una glicoproteína de adhesión célula-célula dependiente de calcio, compuesta de cinco repeticiones tipo cadherina extracelulares, una región transmembranal y un extremo citoplásmico altamente conservado. Se han asociado mutaciones del gen CHD1 con diversos tipos de cáncer (gástrico, de pecho, colorrectal, tiroideo y ovárico). La pérdida de función parece contribuir a la progresión del cáncer por un incremento de la proliferación celular, de la invasión y de la metástasis. El ectodominio de esta proteína media en la adhesión bacteriana a las células de mamíferos, y el dominio citoplásmico es necesario para que se produzca la internalización. Se han descrito diversas variantes transcripcionales por mutación de los sitios de splicing alternativo.[4]
