A proteína que se une ao factor de crecemento similar á insulina 1 (IGFBP-1 polas súas siglas en inglés de insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 1) tamén chamada proteína placentaria 12 (PP12), é unha proteína que en humanos está codificada no xene IGFBP1 do cromosoma 7.[1][2]
Este xene é membro da familia da proteína que se une ao factor de crecemento similar á insulina (IGFBP) e codifica unha proteína cun dominio IGFBP e un dominio de tiroglobulina de tipo I. A proteína únese aos factores de crecemento similares á insulina IGF-I e IGF-II e circula no plasma sanguíneo. Unirse a esta proteína prolonga a vida medio dos IGFs e altera a súa interacción con receptores da superficie celular. Caracterizáronse variantes transcricionais de empalme alternativo de ARNm que codifican diferentes isoformas.[2]
