Background

Since de collapse of de Somali central government insyd 1991, dem destroy all de educational institutions den oda public properties. Dis cause mass migration of Somali intellectuals from de country. Years later, sam of de Somali intellectuals recognize de need for primary den secondary education. Consequently, dem establish non-profit organizations make e meet de educational needs of dose wey graduate from local schools insyd de war torn country. For response to de aforementioned situations, dem found Kismayo University for de coastal City of Kismayo insyd as de first varsity ever dem establish insyd de Jubaland region of Somalia.

Founders of de varsity, administrators den policymakers wan make e hold on to young people wey dey leave de city make e find higher education elsewhere. De founding of Kismayo University insyd September 2005, dem create 20+ post secondary spaces. De obvious result go be opportunity give varsity education give local high school graduates den adults wey go like make dem continue dema education insyd de region instead of make dem dey go to Mogadishu, Hargeisa, anaa neighboring Kenya.

Dem build de main campus just north of Kismayo, next to de Old Kismayo Airport, insyd 2009.
