Sophia Abena Boafoa Akuffo JSC (dem born am 20 December 1949) na she be Chief Justice give Ghana from 2017 till 20 December 2019. Prior to dat, na she already be Judge give Supreme Court of Ghana since 1995.[1]

[edit | edit source]De daughter of sam Presbyterian minister, she get ein secondary education for Wesley Girls' High School wey dey Cape Coast wey she obtain ein Bachelor of law degree from de University of Ghana.[2][3] She further ein education for Ghana School of Law wer she qualify as barrister.[2] Akuffo train as lawyer under Nana Akuffo-Addo.[4] She get Master's degree for Law insyd from Harvard University wey dey USA.[3][5]
Ein Career
[edit | edit source]Sophia Akuffo be member of de Governing Committee of de Commonwealth Judicial Education Institute,[3][6] den de Chairperson give Alternative Dispute Resolution Task Force for several years. For January 2006 insyd, dem elect am as one of de first judges of de African Court on Human den Peoples' Rights:[7] Dem initially elect am for two years wey dem subsequently re-elect am till 2014 wey she serve as Vice-President den President of de Court respectively.[5][8][9]
Akuffo wrote The Application of Information & Communication Technology in the Judicial Process – the Ghanaian Experience, a presentation to the African Judicial Network Ghana (2002).[1]

She san serve as de chairperson of de board of de University of Ghana[16] wey she dey get membership for several boards of directors of various organizations.[17]
