De University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) first nu na ebe Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), be public university for Ghana insyd. De main campus dey Madina for Accra.[1] UPSA be de first university for Ghana wey dey provide both academic den business professional education. De University of Professional Studies Act, 2012 (Act 850) change de name of de Institute of Professional Studies go University of Professional Studies, Accra. National Accreditation Board (Ghana) accredit UPSA nationally den internationally den de Accreditation Council for Business Schools den Programs (ACBSP) respectively.[2][3]

Dem introduce de dual qualification scheme give demma students for de 2019/20 academic year. For dis system nu, dem dey require students say dem go fini chartered program such as ACCA, ICAG, CIM, CIMA, ICSA den odas, by de end of demma degree study so say ego enhance demma chances of employment for de job market insyd.[4][5]

De university start for 1965 as private professional business education tuition provider, wey government take ova for 1978 by de Institute of Professional Studies Decree, 1978 (SMCD 200). Dem later establish am as tertiary institution plus mandate say ego provide tertiary den professional education for accounting, management, den oda related areas insyd by de Institute of Professional Studies Act, (Act 566), 1999.

De then IPS dey offer tuition give business professional programmes. For September 2005 insyd, de institute introduce Bachelor’s degree programmes so say ego give meaning for de IPS Act 566. Eget Presidential Charter for September 2008 insyd, wey emake am fully-fledged public university. De university dey offer undergraduate den post-graduate degrees for chaw programmes insyd.[6]

De development of de programmes plus trends for tertiary education insyd for both local den international levels call for amendment of de existing Act 566 of 1999. So, de University of Professional Studies Act, 2012 (ACT 850) cam rename de institute as University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).[7]

UPSA recently introduce “dual qualification scheme” give students for de 2019/2020 academic year. For September 2020 insyd, President Nana Akufo-Addo commission sam 500-seat capacity artificial stadium (AstroTurf) give UPSA. Dem cut de sod for de stadium for July 2019 wey Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited construct am. Asyd de artificial football pitch, de facility get spectator stands plus VIP area, changing rooms, washrooms, storage spaces, flood lighting den Sports Directorate offices for de University. De Vice-Chancellor talk say de facility go dey accessible for use by de community.[8]
