Harsunan Plateau guda arba'in ne ko fiye da haka, rukuni ne na yarukan Benue – Kongo wanda mutane miliyan 15 ke magana da shi a Jos Plateau, Kudancin Kaduna, Jihar Nasarawa da kuma yankunan da ke kusa da tsakiyar Najeriya.

Berom da Eggon su ke da mafiya yawan masu amfani da harshen. Yawancin harsunan Plateau suna fuskantar barazanar karewa kuma akwai masu magana da harsunan kusan mutum 2,000-10,000. [2]

Harsunan Plateau sun bambanta sosai ta fuskar rubutu da kalmomi. Misali, Roger Blench (2022) ya lura cewa harshen Beromic ya fi bambamta daga sauran yarukan yammacin Chadic A3 . [3]

Yawancin rassan ɓangarorin ƙwararrun harsuna ne, kodayake Tsakiyar ƙungiya ce da ta rage kuma akwai shakku game da wasu harsunan Ninzic da aka ce. Harsunan Filato gabaɗaya suna raba nau'ikan isoglosses da yawa, kamar yadda duk rassa ke yi ban da Tarokoid .   Glottolog ya ƙara harsunan Yukubenic. Blench, duk da haka, yana sanya Yukubenic a cikin dangin Jukunoid, bayan Shimizu (1980).
