Sarauniya Idia ita ce mahaifiyar Esigie, Oba (sarkin) Benin wanda ya yi sarauta daga 1504 zuwa 1550. Ta taka muhimmiyar rawa a wajen tasowa da kuma mulkin ɗanta, ana daukan ta a matsayin babbar jaruma wacce ta yi yaƙi ba ji ba gani kafin da kuma lokacin sarautar ɗanta a matsayin oba ( sarki ) na mutanen Edo.[1] Sarauniya Idia taka rawar gani a wajen tabbatar da taken oba ga Esigie bayan mutuwar mahaifinsa Oba Ozolua. A dalilin haka, ta hada rundumar sojoji don su yaƙi ɗan'uwansa Arhuaran, wanda daga baya aka ci shi da yaƙi. Ta haka ne Esigie ya zama Sarki na 17 na Benin.[2] [3]

Esigie ne ya kafa taken iyoba (uwa sarauniya) kuma ya baiwa mahaifiyarsa, tare da Eguae-Iyoba (Fadar Uwa Sarauniya). [4]

Bayan haka, mutanen kabilar Igala da ke makwabtaka da su sun tura mayaƙa hayin kogin Benuwai don su kwace ikon mulkin arewacin Benin. Esigie ya ci Igala, don maido da haɗin kai da ƙarfin soja na masarautar. Mahaifiyarsa Idia ne ake dangantawa da nasarar wadannan husuman,[5]dangane da shawar ta na siyasa, tare da ƙarfinta na sihiri da ilimin likitanci, a matsayin abubuwa masu mahimmanci a wajen nasarar Esigie a fagen fama.

An kwashe da yawa daga cikin sassake-sassake Idia a lokacin yawon turawa na 1897, kuma suna nan ajiye a gidajen tarihi na duniya. Ana nan dai anata gwargwarmayan maido su tare da sauran tagulla na Benin. Anyi amfani da sassakaken marufin fuska na sarauniya Idia a wajen bukukuwan Second World Black and African Festival of Art da kuma Culture FESTAC wanda aka yi a Najeeriya a shekara ta 1977.[6]


A shirin fim na Eddie Ugbomah wanda aka a 1979 The Mask, jarumin fim din ya kwato marufin fuskan daga gidan tarihin Turai.[7]
