Jami'ar Covenant University (CU) jami'ar kirista ce mai zaman kanta a Ota, dake jihar Ogun, Najeriya . [1] [2][3] Yana da alaƙa da Ikilisiyar Bangaskiya ta Duniya kuma memba ne na Ƙungiyar Jami'o'in Commonwealth, Ƙungiyar Jamiʼo'in Afirka, da Hukumar Jami'oʼi ta Kasa. [4][5] A cikin 2019, Jami'ar Alkawari ta zama jami'ar Najeriya ta farko da za a sanya ta a cikin manyan jami'o'i na duniya ta hanyar Times Higher Education . [6][7]

Shirin kafa Jami'ar Alkawari (CU) ya fara ne a watan Oktoba na shekara ta 1999, wata daya bayan keɓewar Alkawari na Bangaskiya a Ota. Jami'ar ta samo asali ne daga Hukumar 'Yanci kuma Hukumar Jakadancin Duniya da Ikilisiyar Addini ta Duniya ne suka kafa ta. Jami'ar Alkawari ta buɗe a ranar 21 ga Oktoba 2002 [8] a Kan'ana, Ota, tare da aikin Kirista na Pentecostal. David Oyedepo ne ya kafa shi, shugaban Bishop na Living Faith Church Worldwide, wanda shine shugaban jami'ar.[9]

Shirye-shiryen ilimi na Jami'ar Alkawari suna gudana a kwalejoji huɗu: Kwalejin Gudanarwa da Kimiyya ta Jama'a (CMSS), [10] Kwalejin Nazarin Ci gaban Jagora (CLDS), [11] Kwalejin Injiniya (COE) [12] da Kwalejin Kimiyya da Fasaha (CST).[13] Jami'ar Alkawari tana gudanar da shirye-shiryen digiri na biyu a cikin dukkan tsarin karatun da aka jera a sama.[14] Jami'ar ta mallaki filin wasa tare da tafkin yin iyo da wasan tennis, wasan tennis na tebur, wasan kwando da kotunan volleyball. Jami'ar Alkawari tana ɗaya daga cikin jami'o'in da ke da alaƙa da Ƙungiyar Wasannin Jami'ar Najeriya.[15][16]

Cibiyar Nazarin Jami'ar Alkawari, wanda aka fi sani da ɗakin karatu na jami'a, [17] tana tsakanin dakunan zama na mata, Dorcas Hall da Esther Hall na harabar, kuma kai tsaye a gaban ɗakin sujada na jami'ar. Jimlar filin bene na hadaddun shine 11,300 m2.  Gidan ɗakin karatu gini ne mai hawa uku, wanda ake zaton yana daya daga cikin mafi girma a Afirka.[1] An tsara shi azaman tsarin gilashi. Tana cikin gine-ginen kwaleji, ɗakin sujada na jami'a da dakunan zama.[1] Yana iya saukar da masu karatu 3000 da kimanin ma'aikatan bincike 500 da daliban digiri.[18][19]

  • Covenant University is a leading private institution in Nigeria based on number of prospective students/applicants that seeks to get admitted;[55] Its admission requirements, cited scholarly journals and annual rankings.[56][57][58]
  • On September 26, 2018, it became the highest ranked Nigerian university[59] in the world universities ranking of the Times Higher Education (THE).
  • Covenant was also recently selected[60] as one of the Africa Centres of Excellence for Development Impact (ACE Impact).
  • Earlier in November, 2018, Covenant entered the Subject Rankings of the Times Higher Education (THE) for the first time in the Business and Economics subject category ranking 501+ globally.[61] Furthermore, in the recently released Engineering subject ranking, Covenant emerged in the 501-600 category.[62]
  • In January 2015, it was ranked as the best university in Nigeria according to Webometrics.[63][64] A publication by Vanguard, that segregated universities in Nigeria into Grade A, B, etc. based on JAMB score ceiling; categorized Covenant University as a "Grade A" university.[65]
  • The National Universities Commission in 2016, listed Covenant University as the best private school in Nigeria.[66] In 2017, the university retained its position as Nigeria's best private institution according to the same government agency.[57][67]
  • Again, in August 2017, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry awarded Covenant University with the best private university in Nigeria award.[68] These feat was also reported in 2013[69] and 2014.[70]

  • Covenant University has been statistically rated as the most preferred private university in Nigeria among university seekers since the public availability of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board data in 2014. It was the most sought-after private school in 2014,[71][72] 2015,[73] 2016[74] and 2017.[58]
  • According to Elsevier, data from 2011 to 2015 show that Covenant University publications was rated number one in Wind power, Wind and turbine, Corrosion inhibitors, Carbon steel; and the second best in trade, Remittance, Effect and housing; Residential satisfaction, satisfaction among all universities worldwide.[75] Another report by Daily Independent newspaper which analyzed Elsevier Scival metrics showed that publications in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management and Accounting from Covenant University ranked tops in Nigeria.[1]
  • In 2016, Africa Leadership Magazine listed Covenant University as one of the universities of excellence to be honoured in South Africa.[76]
  • At the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development (PRESSID), which is an annual initiative by the Federal government of Nigeria to provide scholarship abroad to students that graduated with first class degrees from Nigerian universities, Covenant University had the highest number of students that scaled through the aptitude examination among all universities in Nigeria during the 2013, 2014 and 2015 academic sessions.[77]
  • A 2017 collaborative study by Stutern, Jobberman and BudgIT reveal that graduates from Covenant University are the "most employable" in Nigeria.[78][79][80][81] The study was criticized by some stakeholders for not having a large sample size.[82]
  • Techcabal rated Covenant University as having the best software developers in Nigeria.[83] The school was also listed as having one of the best five postgraduate schools in Nigeria by Nigeria Bulletin.[84] In January 2018, a Covenant University student, Ubani Peculiar Chinaemerem was awarded the best marketing student by the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria among all students in Nigerian universities.[85]
  • In 2018, Covenant University won the Nigerian round of the CFA Institute Research Challenge, defeating the University of Lagos and Obafemi Awolowo University to become Nigeria's first representative in the global competition.[86][87] In 2018, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology awarded the school first position in innovative technology among all universities in Nigeria.[88] The school was placed third in the 2017 edition.[89]
