מיטשל ג'פרי בארד (נולד ב-1959) הוא מומחה, עורך וסופר אמריקאי למדיניות חוץ, המתמחה במדיניות ארצות הברית במזרח התיכון. הוא המנהל של העמותה האמריקאית-ישראלית השיתופית (AICE),[1][2][3] ומנהל הספרייה הווירטואלית היהודית.[4]

ביוגרפיה

בארד קיבל את התארים האקדמיים שלו מאוניברסיטת קליפורניה: תואר ראשון בכלכלה מסנטה ברברה, תואר שני במדיניות ציבורית מברקלי ותואר דוקטור במדעי המדינה מ-UCLA. עבודת הדוקטורט שלו הייתה על "הגבולות להשפעה פנימית על מדיניות המזרח התיכון של ארצות הברית".[5] הוא עשה פוסט-דוקטורט באוניברסיטת קליפורניה באירוויין מ-1986 עד 1987, וחקר את הצלת יהודי אתיופיה מסודן במבצע משה.[6] בארד מתגורר במרילנד עם אשתו ושני בניו.[7]

בארד הוא עורך לשעבר של Near East Report, הניוזלטר השבועי של ועדת לענייני הציבור האמריקאית של ישראל ("AIPAC") על מדיניות ארצות הברית-מזרח התיכון.[8] לפני שעבד ב-AIPAC, הוא היה מנתח סקרים בקבוצת המחקר של ג'ורג' בוש (האב) במהלך הבחירות לנשיאות ב-1988. הוא התראיין ב-Fox News, MSNBC, NBC, אל-ג'זירה, The Jenny Jones Show וכלי תקשורת אחרים.[9][10]

בשנת 2012, בארד השתתף בוועידת הנשיאות הישראלית.[11]
