ダグラスはSugar Hill Recordsでのレコーディングを含む、数多くのレコーディングをプロデュースしてきた。彼はアリソン・クラウス、デル・マクーリー、マウラ・オコネル、ジェッセ・ウィッチャー、ナッシュビル・ブルーグラス・バンド、ザ・アールズ・オブ・レイセスター、ザ・スティープ・キャニオン・レンジャーズなどのアルバムを監修した。アリ・ベインと共に、BBCの人気番組"トランサトランティック・セッションズ"のミュージック・ディレクターを務めている。
1998年から、ダグラスはアリソン・クラウス&ユニオン・ステーションのメンバーを務め、ツアーに参加し、プラチナアルバムのレコーディングにも参加している。ユニオン・ステーション以外の活動では、自身のバンド"The Jerry Douglas Band"でツアーを行い、自身の作品の幅を広げている。また、ザ・アールズ・オブ・レイセスターでのツアーは、2014年にリリースした"The Earls of Leicester"の成功を継続する目的も含め行っている。
