Montefeltro et al. (2011) でもバウルスクス科は2つの亜科(ピサラチャンプサ亜科とバウルスクス亜科)に区分された。ピサラチャンプサ亜科にはピサラチャンプサとワルゴスクス、バウルスクス亜科にはバウルスクスとストラティオトスクスが含まれる。キノドントスクスはどちらの亜科にも属さず、基盤的なバウルスクス科に位置付けられる。なお、キノドントスクスを区別する特異的な特徴は記載された標本が幼体であるがゆえの可能性があり、その場合キノドントスクスはバウルスクスの幼体とされ、2属はシノニムの関係にある[12]。
