勇気・心の弱さ・恥・共感などについて研究を行っている[1]。執筆した書籍はニューヨーク・タイムズのベストセラーリストに幾度も登場している。世界的な講演大会TEDにも幾度も講演し、2010年の「傷つく心の力(The Power of Vulnerability)」では再生数がトップファイブに入っている[2]。
