섀기쥐속(Dasymys)은 쥐과 쥐아과에 속하는 설치류 속 분류군의 하나이다. 아프리카의 토착종이다.^[1] 습지 서식지에서 분포하며, 늪과 플라이같은 습지와 울창한 식물 속의 소택 지역에서 발견된다. 헤엄을 잘 친다. 야행성 동물이며, 독거 생활을 한다.^[2] 사하라 이남 아프리카 남부 지역의 습지는 악화되어 있기 때문에 북부 지역에서 더 흔하게 발견되는 종이다.^[3]
