Kunzea pomifera (binomen a Ferdinando de Mueller anno 1855 statutum)[1] est species plantarum fructiferarum iuxta litora meridiana Australiae crescentium. Fructibus olim ab indigenis collectis, planta recentius in Australia et alibi colitur. Mueller ita descripsit: "Pomum carnosum edule 'malum indigenarum' a colonis Australiae meridianae nuncupatur."[2] Alibi: "Planta procumbens, foliis eucalyptoidibus, bacas (muntries) proferens e quibus conditurae optimae conficiuntur."[3] Species iam anno 1889 in Angliam introducta est.
Nomen huius fructus Anglicum solitum, muntries formá plurali vel a principio muntry, a lingua Australiana Yaralde deductum est. Anno 1847 primum legitur in opere G. F. Angas Savage Life and Scenes: "Hae bacae malis parvis valde similes saporem aromaticum haud ingratum habent; quas cum maturescant indigenae se per thinia ad decerpendas dispargunt."[4]
