Mu Ogwomwenda - Ogwekkumi 2003, Wangusa yenyigira mu mpaka za Cheltenham Literature Festival mu Bungereza nga Across Continents Project.[6] Era mu 2003, yaweereza ng'omulamuzi w'ekirabo eky'omuwendo ekya Commonwealth Writers' Prize (African Region), ekyawagirwa Commonwealth Foundation wamu ne Pulof. Mu Ogwomunaana- Ogwekkumi 1998, Wangusa yeetaba mu International Writers Program, University of Iowa, era n'aweebwa ekirabo kya Honorary Fellowship in Writing okuva mu University of Iowa.[2]
Mu Gwokusatu 2002, Wangusa yaweereza ng'omulamuzi mu mpaka z'okuwandiika ezaategekebwa American Centre (Uganda) okujjukira omwezi gw'ebyafaayo eby'omufirika omumerika . Mu Ogwomukaaga 2002, yaweerezako ng'omuweereza omukulu owebyali bigenda mu maaso mu lukungaana lw'abakyala olw'omulundi ogwa 8 mu Kampala Uganda olwa International Inter-disciplinary Congress on Women.
