ജോൺ ഫൊറസ്റ്റ് ദേശീയോദ്യാനം പെർത്തിൽ നിന്നും 24 കിലോമീറ്റർ കിഴക്കായി, പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ആസ്ത്രേലിയയിലെ ഡാർലിങ് സ്കാർപ്പിലാണ് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ആസ്ത്രേലിയയിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ ദേശീയോദ്യാനവും റോയൽ ദേശീയോദ്യാനത്തിനു ശേഷം ആസ്ത്രേലിയയിലെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ ദേശീയോദ്യാനമാണിത്.
പേര്
[തിരുത്തുക]1898ൽ പരിപാലിക്കാനും വിനോദസഞ്ചാരത്തിനു വേണ്ടിയുമാണ് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തെ സംരക്ഷിച്ചിരുന്നത്. രണ്ട് വർഷങ്ങൾക്കു ശേഷം, ഗ്രീൻ മൗണ്ട് ദേശീയോദ്യാനം എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. [1] 1930 കളിൽ ഇത് ദേശീയോദ്യാനമായി പരിഗണിച്ചു.[2][3] പടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ആസ്ത്രേലിയയിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ പ്രീമിയറായിരുന്ന സർ ജോൺ ഫൊറസ്റ്റിന്റെ സ്മരണാർത്ഥം 1947 നു ശേഷം ഈ ദേശീയോദ്യാനത്തിന്റെ പേര് മാറ്റി. [4][5]
