ഏഷ്യയിലെ ഏറ്റവും അഭിമാനകരമായ അവാർഡുകളിൽ ഒന്നായ 1973-ലെ രമൺ മഗ്‌സസെ അവാർഡ്, മിനമാറ്റ രോഗത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള രചനകൾ പരസ്യമാക്കിയതിന് അവർ നേടി. അത് അക്കാലത്ത് ഏറെ വിവാദമായിരുന്നു.[2]
