Merl Saunders (14. februar 1934–24. oktober 2008) var ein USA-amerikansk pianist og klaverspelar, som ofte spelte Hammond B-3-orgel.

Han vart kjend i 1970-åra då han byrja å spele med Jerry Garcia og Grateful Dead. I lag skipa dei Saunders/Garcia Band, som gav ut tre album, og som vart til Legion of Mary i 1974. Han leia sitt eige band som Merl Saunders and Friends.

Saunders arbeidde òg med musikarane Paul Pena, Bonnie Raitt, Phish, Widespread Panic, Miles Davis og B.B. King. ref> The case was later settled amicably.
