Brian Selznick (ur. 14 lipca 1966 w East Brunswick[1][2][3]) – amerykański ilustrator i pisarz[4]. Jest autorem ilustracji do książek The Invention of Hugo Cabret (2007), Wonderstruck (2011), oraz The Marvels (2015). W 2008 roku za stworzenie ilustracji do pierwszej z książek otrzymał Medal Caldecotta[5], a w 2017 Inkpot Award[6]. Na prośbę wydawnictwa Scholastic Press zaprojektował specjalną urodzinową serię okładek książek z serii powieści o Harrym Potterze[7][8].

Selznick urodził się i dorastał w East Brunswick w stanie New Jersey, gdzie w 1984 roku ukończył East Brunswick High School[9]. Jest najstarszym z trójki dzieci małżeństwa o żydowskich korzeniach[10][11][12]. Jego dziadek był kuzynem znanego hollywoodzkiego producenta Davida O. Selznicka[13]. Ukończył Rhode Island School of Design[14], następnie pracował w księgarni Eeyore's Books for Children na Manhattanie[15], pisząc książkę The Houdini Box. Opowiada ona o przypadkowym spotkaniu pewnego chłopca ze słynnym iluzjonistą Harrym Houdinim i jego następstwach. Miała 56 stron, została opublikowana przez Alfreda A. Knopfa w 1991 roku. Publikacja ta stała się jego debiutem pisarskim[16][17]. Książki Briana Selznicka przetłumaczono na ponad 35 języków[18].
