The Manapiare Municipality is ane o the seiven municipalities (municipios) that mak up the soothren Venezuelan state o Amazonas an, accordin tae the 2011 census bi the Naitional Institute o Statistics o Venezuela, the municipality haes a population o 7,715.[1] The toun o San Juan de Manapiare is the shire toun o the Manapiare Municipality.[2]
The toun o San Juan de Manapiare wis foondit bi the splorer Don Melicio Pérez in the year 1940.[3]
The Manapiare Municipality, accordin tae a 2007 population estimate bi the Naitional Institute o Statistics o Venezuela, haes a population o 9,658 (up frae 7,647 in 2000). This amoonts tae 6.8% o the state's population.[4] The municipality's population density is 0.3 inhabitants per square kilometre (0.78/sq mi).[5]
The mayor o the Manapiare Municipality is Pastor Nelson Rodrìguez, electit on 31 October 2004 wi 60% o the vote.[6] He replacit Benjamin Perez shortly efter the elections.[7] The municipality is dividit intae three pairishes; Alto Ventuari, Medio Ventuari, an Bajo Ventuari (previous tae 18 Dizember 1997, the Manapiare Municipality conteened anerly a single pairish).[2]
