Australian Plains is a small settlement in South Australia. Originally, the settlement was founded by German immigrants, in the 1880s. In 2014, it had a population of about 30 people. The post office operated from 1882 to 1971.[2] The public school operated from 1917 to 1956. Before 1917, there was a Lutheran school, which had to close during World War I.[3][4]
