Bruno Messerli (17 September 1931 – 4 February 2019) was a Swiss geographer and university professor. He was born in Belp. He was known for his geographic high mountain research.[1] He was appointed Full Professor of Geomorphology in 1968 by the University of Bern.[2] He worked in teaching and research until his retirement in 1996.[3]
Messerli was known for his works for the inclusion of a mountain chapter in the Agenda 21.[4]
He was elected a member of the Academia Europaea in 1990.[5]
Messerli died on 4 February 2019 at the age of 87.[6]
