Edward Lazear

Edward Paul Lazear (/ləˈzɪər/, lə-ZEER) (August 17, 1948 – November 23, 2020)[1] was an American economist. He was a member of the Republican Party. From 2006 to 2009, he was Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers during the George W. Bush presidency.

He was the Morris Arnold and Nona Jean Cox Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and the Davies Family Professor of Economics at Stanford Graduate School of Business.[2]

Lazear was born in New York City. He studied at the University of California, Los Angeles and at Harvard University. Lazear died of pancreatic cancer on November 23, 2020 in Stanford, California at the age of 72.[3]
