The company was founded in 2014 by Alex Blumberg and Matthew Lieber.[ 1] Later, Blumberg's spouse started working there and launched Gimlet Creative in 2016.[ 2] [ 3]
Then Gimlet Media raised $1.5 million in seed funding and later another $200,000.[ 2] [ 4]

That year Gimlet Media launched a new kind of paid membership.[ 6]
