Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (transl. Humpty Sharma's bride) is a 2014 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy movie[3] written and directed by Shashank Khaitan, and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar and Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions.[4][5] The movie stars Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Sidharth Shukla in the lead roles.[6][7] This is the second time Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt have acted together after their debut in Student of the Year and was released on 11 July 2014 and was commercially successful at the box office. A sequel, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, also starring Dhawan and Bhatt, was released in 2017. It was not related to this movie. Karan Johar stated that the movie is based on the cult romantic classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.[6][7]
