James Wood Jr. (January 28, 1741 – June 16, 1813) was an American military officer and politician. He was born in Winchester, Virginia. He was an officer of the U.S. Continental Army during the American Revolution.[1] Wood was the 11th Governor of Virginia from 1796 to 1799.[2] Wood was replaced as Governor by future President James Monroe. He was a member of the Federalist Party.
Wood died on June 16, 1813 in Richmond, Virginia at the age of 72.[3]
