James Ferlo (May 19, 1951 – May 15, 2022) was an American Democratic politician. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Senate representing the 38th Senatorial District from 2003 to 2015.[1] He did not run for reelection in 2014.[2] He was a member of the Pittsburgh City Council from 1988 until 2003. Ferlo came out as gay in 2014 and the Pennsylvania Senate's first openly gay legislator.[3][4] He was born in Rome, New York.
On May 15, 2022, it was announced that Ferlo had died at aged 70.[5]
