Julius Sämann (April 15, 1911 – May 9, 1999) was a German businessman. He was born in Uffenheim, Germany.[1] He was a Jew. He left Germany because of the Nazis. He studied the smell of Alpine Trees for five years in Canada.[2][3] Sämann developed methods to get essential oils from ever-green trees and started an oil company. He sold the interest from the company in 1946.[4] In 1952, a milk driver in Watertown, New York complained to him about the smell of spilled milk. Because of this, he invented Little Trees.[2][5]
