Kerstin Meyer

Kerstin Margareta Meyer (3 April 1928 – 14 April 2020) was a Swedish mezzo-soprano. He had an international career on the opera stage and concert platform. Meyer was born in Stockholm. She worked for Hamburg State Opera.

Meyer appeared in the title role of Bizet's Carmen in the Wieland Wagner/Sawallisch production (1959) and creating the roles of Mrs. Claiborne in Gunther Schuller's The Visitation (1966), Alice Arden in Alexander Goehr's Arden Must Die (1967), and Gertrude in Humphrey Searle's Hamlet (1968).

She was the rector of Operahögskolan i Stockholm from 1984 to 1994.

Meyer died on 14 April 2020 in Stockholm, aged 92.[1][2]
