Michael Angerschmid (born 24 February 1974) is an Austrian football coach and former player. He is currently first-team coach at Premier League club Crystal Palace.
Michael Angerschmid played at SV Ried throughout his career. In total he played 277 games in Austria's highest league for SV Ried, scoring 13 goals. Throughout his player career he played 406 matches for Ried and scored 21 goals. Angerschmid played in the SV Ried squad that won the Austrian Cup in 1998.[1]
After completing his playing career, Angerschmid became the coach of SV Ried Amateurs. In his first season, 2007/08, he managed to get promoted from the Bezirksliga to the Landesliga West. In the 2008/09 season they were promoted to the Upper Austria League (fourth level). In the last three games of the 2007/08 season Angerschmid was interim coach of SV Ried. From the 2008/09 season he was also assistant coach of SV Ried in the team of head coach Paul Gludovatz. In December 2012 he was promoted to head coach. After his release in 2014, he was coach of the Regionalliga club Union St. Florian for a short time.
From June 2015 to June 2019 he was assistant coach at LASK Linz under Oliver Glasner. With Glasner he moved in the summer of 2019 as assistant coach to the German Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg. 2021 he went together with Glasner to Eintracht Frankfurt.[2]
