Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad-Saeed al-Tabataba'i al-Hakim (Arabic: محمد سعيد الطباطبائي الحكيم; February 1, 1936[1][2] – September 3, 2021) was a senior Iraqi Shi'a marja. He was one of the Big Four Grand Ayatollahs of the Hawza of Najaf. He was one of the most senior Shia clerics in Iraq after Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani.[3] He was born in Najaf, Iraq.
In 2003, Saeed al-Hakim was targeted in an attempted assassination, when his house in Najaf was bombed.[4][5]
Saeed al-Hakim died on September 3, 2021 in Najaf from a heart attack at the age of 85.[6]
