Takeshi Morishima (森嶋 猛, Morishima Takeshi) (born October 15, 1978) is a Japanese former professional wrestler.
Morishima is known for his time wrestling in All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), Pro Wrestling Noah, Ring of Honor (ROH) and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). He also had a tryout and dark match for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).[1]
During his career, Morishima would hold many championships. In Noah, he was a three-time GHC Heavyweight Champion and a five-time GHC Tag Team Champion,[2][3][4][5][6][7][8] in ROH, he was a one-time ROH World Champion,[9] and in AAA, he was a one-time AAA World Tag Team Champion.[10]
In April 2015, Morishima was scheduled to wrestle in the 2015 Global Tag League but could not compete because he had suffered an injury. Results of bloodwork he had done revealed that Morishima had a high glycated hemoglobin which was thought to be diabetes. Doctors suggested that Morishima never wrestle again and he would decide to.retire from in-ring competition afterwards.[11] Morishima would later say that his retirement was more because he was in a terrible shape both physical and mentally.[12] He made an attempt to return to the ring in late 2018 but had to cancel because he needed surgery for Arthritis in his foot.[13]
On November 4, 2018, Morishima would get into legal trouble. He would be arrested after punching a taxi driver in the face and breaking his cheekbones after not paying his fare.[14]
