Walter Edward “Turk” Broda (May 15, 1914 – October 17, 1972) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was born in Brandon, Manitoba on May 15, 1914 to a Polish-Canadian family. He joined the Maple Leafs in 1936. Broda stepped away from hockey from 1943 to 1946 so he could fight in World War II. He returned to the Leafs in 1946.
