Tyler Bertuzzi (born February 24, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left winger. He currently plays for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, and Toronto Maple Leafs

Before playing in the NHL, Bertuzzi played parts of 4 seasons with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Bertuzzi won the J. Ross Robertson Cup with the Storm in 2019.[1] He also led the league with five goals in four games during the Memorial Cup playoffs, helping the Storm reach the finals before they were eliminated by the Edmonton Oil Kings.[2]

He was drafted 58th overall overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.[3] On October 17, 2014, Bertuzzi signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Red Wings.[4] He split time between the Red Wings and their AHL-affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins.

On November 8, 2016, Bertuzzi made his NHL debut in a 3-2 win against the Philadelphia Flyers and was sent back down after.[5] Bertuzzi set a Griffins record with 23 career playoff goals and won the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy after the Griffins defeated the Syracuse Crunch to win the Calder Cup.[6]

On December 27, 2017, he recorded his first NHL point, assisting on a Justin Abdelkader goal in a 3-1 loss against the New Jersey Devils.[7] On January 14, 2018, Bertuzzi scored his first NHL goal in a 4-0 win against the Chicago Blackhawks.[8] On June 25, 2018, Bertuzzi signed a two-year contract to stay with the Red Wings.[9] He was selected to take part in the 2020 NHL All-Star Game.[10] Bertuzzi signed another two-year extension to stay with the Red Wings on July 31, 2021.[11]

On March 2, 2023, the Red Wings traded Bertuzzi to the Boston Bruins in exchange for a first-round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.[12] Bertuzzi made his NHL playoff debut with the Bruins. The Bruins ended up losing to the Florida Panthers in the first round.[13]

On July 2, 2023, Bertuzzi signed a one-year, $5.5 million contract to join the Toronto Maple Leafs.[14] On November 24, Bertuzzi became the first NHL player to wear a neck guard during an NHL game. This came after Adam Johnson was killed from a skate blade cut to the neck during a game.[15] He helped the Maple Leafs reach the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs. The Leafs were eliminated by the Boston Bruins in seven games.[16]

On July 1, 2024, Bertuzzi signed a four-year, $22 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.[17]

Bertuzzi's uncle Todd also played in the NHL for parts of 18 seasons.[18]
