Edward William Proxmire (November 11, 1915 – December 15, 2005) was an American politician. He was a member of the Democratic Party. He was a United States Senator from Wisconsin from 1957 to 1989, the longest term served by a Wisconsin senator.[1]
Proxmire was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 1998.[2] He died on December 15, 2005 in a nursing home in Sykesville, Maryland at the age of 90.
