Zoltan Istvan Gyurko ,[ 1] professionally known as Zoltan Istvan (born 1973), is an American transhumanist ,[ 2] journalist,[ 3] entrepreneur[ 4] [ 5] and Libertarian futurist.[ 6] [ 7]
Formerly a reporter for the National Geographic Channel .[ 8] He wrote for Vice's Motherboard ,[ 9] Wired ,[ 10] The Huffington Post ,[ 11] TechCrunch [ 12] and Newsweek .
In late 2014, Istvan announced his plans to run for President of the United States in the 2016 U.S. presidential election .[ 13] In 2017, Istvan announced his plans to run for Governor of California in the 2018 election as a member of the Libertarian Party .[ 14] [ 15]
In November 2017, Istvan announced his plans to run for President of the United States in the 2020 presidential election for the Libertarian Party.[ 16] In January 2019, he announced that he withdrew from the Libertarian primary.[ 17]
In November 2019, Istvan announced his candidacy for the Republican Party's nomination in the 2020 United States presidential election , hoping to win the GOP nomination against President Donald Trump .[ 18]
