Gerald Potterton (8 Mart 1931 – 23 Ağustos 2022), İngiliz-Kanadalı yönetmen, yapımcı, yazar ve animatör.[1]

Yaşamı

Potterton, 8 Mart 1931'de Londra, İngiltere'de doğdu.[2] Hammersmith Sanat Okulu'ndan mezun oldu.[3] 1954'te başladığı yapımcılık ve yönetmenlik kariyerini 2022 yılındaki ölümüne kadar sürdürdü.[4] 1955'te Kanada'ya yerleşti.[5] En çok; yönetmenliğini üstlendiği klasikler arasına girmiş Heavy Metal adlı sinema filmi ve Yellow Submarine adlı animasyon film ile akıllarda kaldı. Üç defa "En İyi Kısa Film" dalında Akademi Ödülü'ne aday gösterildi.

Ayrıca yönetmen olarak; My Financial Career ve Christmas Cracker adlı kısa filmler ile yapımcı olarak The Selfish Giant adlı sinema filmine imza atmıştır. Çalışmalarıyla Golden Gate Ödülü[6] ve Berlin Uluslararası Film Festivali Ödülü'nün sahibi olmuştur.[7]

Potterton, 23 Ağustos 2022'de Lac-Brome, Quebec, Kanada'da ani kalp durması nedeniyle kaldırıldığı bir hastanede 91 yaşında öldü.[8]
