Tsubasa Nanase (七なな瀬せ 翼つばさ, Nanase Tsubasa) is currently one of the first-year students of Advanced Nurturing High School. At the start of the 2nd Year Arc, she is assigned under Class 1-D.
Tsubasa has hip-length light-blonde hair that is tied in the back by a white bow with bangs hanging over her forehead, blue eyes and a pretty well-endowed figure.
She is seen so far wearing formal school attire consisting of a white blouse paired with a buttoned crimson blazer and blue ribbon, and a short-length white sailor striped pleated skirt.
History
She was a friend of Eiichirō Matsuo, the son of the butler who helped Kiyotaka Ayanokōji escape from the White Room.
Tsubasa is a very polite girl who speaks in a calm and respectful tone to whoever she is speaking to. However, she also has a confident side to her as she says she will never submit to violence, with a strong will in her eyes to Kiyotaka Ayanokōji. She also has no hesitation saying that he was a wicked and filthy person.
She also happens to be a Bokkuko.
In LN Year 2 Arc, Volume 1, Class 1-D's Kazuomi Hōsen along with Tsubasa went to the second year floor in the school building and made way to Class 2-D. Suzune Horikita offered to be on equal footing with 1-D but Kazuomi wanted Class 2-D to submit to them talking as if she were a senior student. The situation became troublesome, making Tsubasa stop Kazuomi, saying she would reveal "that" to everyone in the vicinity and they left.
She met Kiyotaka on the way to the school's main building the other day. Kiyotaka asked her if she had found a partner yet and they talked about class 1-D. She talked about violence, which partook to Hōsen's approach and told Kiyotaka that she would never succumb to it, then they exchanged contact info and talked about setting up a meeting later on.
The next day, Tsubasa met up with Kiyotaka and Suzune at the library talking about how to negotiate possible pairings for the special exam, but it seems that Hōsen's control over the class was superior that even Tsubasa could not betray. She contacted Kazuomi to talk about the contract that Suzune wanted with 1-D but was flatly rejected by Hōsen. Tsubasa seemed to accept the contract but had no power to refuse Hōsen. The next day she came to the library again and proposed for help for possibly replacing Kazuomi as the class representative, but Suzune refused her offer as she believed that as long as Hosen was persuaded then all their problems would be solved easily. Tsubasa agreed with her and admitted she lied about offering to be the leader, saying she had the same idea as Suzune and promised she would bring Housen to a meeting on Sunday. After Suzune left, she asked Kiyotaka a personal question about who he was, but Kiyotaka didn't answer which made Tsubasa say what she thought of him as a wicked and filthy person. When Kiyotaka asked if she saw him as a person who wasn't ordinary she immediately backed down and apologized, saying that the current priority was the cooperation of classes. Then she told Kiyotaka that the actual points initially given to the first year were only 800,000 points which is 200,000 less compared to what the second year had received last year. In return for the information, Kiyotaka told her about the existence of the protection points.
She arrived at the karaoke with Kazuomi on Sunday night with the same contract offered to her by Suzune previously, but Kazuomi still rejected the proposal which caused Suzune to stop negotiating with Hosen and they both left the karaoke. After leaving the karaoke, they went to the back of the dormitory for the first-years and the negotiation continued, but it turned into real trouble as a brawl between Sudō and Hosen began. After some time when Kazuomi turned his knife toward Kiyotaka, she appeared to stop Hōsen, saying that even though she hated Hōsen's way but she's going to lend her strength to the class, even if it meant doing it in an ugly way, but she had enough of it. After Hōsen's defeat, she told Kiyotaka that along with the special exam there was a condition that if someone could make Kiyotaka drop out, they would be given 20,000,000 private points and that only a few first-year students knew about it, but also admitted with hatred in her eyes that she had another reason for helping Kazuomi and that was because she didn't believe a person like Kiyotaka was suited to be in a school like this, before leaving the place.
In LN Year 2 Arc, Volume 2 she teams up with Kazuomi and Ichika Amasawa in order to expel Kiyotaka in the next Island Special Exam.
At the end, it is revealed that she has been working under Tsukishiro's orders to get Kiyotaka expelled.
In LN Year 2 Arc, Volume 3, she has a plan to team up with Kiyotaka to "act" close to him. But her main goal is to avenge the death of her old friend, which involved Kiyotaka's father. When they're at the mountains alone, she finds her chance to fight against Kiyotaka, but was utterly defeated by him. She then tells Kiyotaka her reasons, explaining that Eiichirō Matsuo, the son of the butler that helped Kiyotaka escape from the White Room, was her closest and dearest friend. Unfortunately, Kiyotaka's father took revenge on the Matsuo family by chasing his son out of high school, causing him to keep dropping out. No matter what school he went to, Professor Ayanokōji would chase him down as a revenge for his father letting Kiyotaka escape. Eventually, Matsuo burned himself to death, and Eiichirō would also eventually take his own life. Tsubasa said that Tsukishiro approached her and told her that if she managed to expel Kiyotaka, he would let her meet his father to apologise to her regarding Eiichirō's death. Kiyotaka thinks that even if she managed to expel him, his father will never bow to anyone. Kiyotaka then tells her that his freedom is Matsuo's own decision and he won't betray and waste his butler's wish. Tsubasa, who just finds out about the fact, realises that all her actions have done the opposite. She then promises to help Kiyotaka at the end of the volume
In Year 2 Volume 4.5, Tsubasa follows Kiyotaka around the ship, repeatedly having small interactions with him, while trying to catch the person, who has been watching Kiyotaka, to protect him. She keeps quiet about this, from him, determined to do everything she can in order to help him.
In Year 2 Volume 8, Tsubasa follows Ichika, after she had returned to the school, on guard of what she might do to Kiyotaka, despite the latter's assurances that she will not try anything.
Later on, it's revealed Tsubasa is completely carefree about the idea of Kiyotaka going to the school trip, something that raises his guard towards her, as the school trip was a higher risk for him, than Ichika was, yet she had not tried to warn him about it. He guesses from her attitude, she already knew that the White Room had no intention of capturing him, and that she must know about their plans to some extent, which makes her purpose here in this school suspect. Despite Tsubasa's repeated denials, Kiyotaka continues to point out the oddness of each action she has done till now, and wonders if she was following orders from the White Room, then even her story about Matsuo might be fake as well, leaving a question on what she is truly hiding from him.
Tsubasa realizes she cannot convince him that she is not who he thinks she is and decides to depart quietly, promising she will show him over time.
