Amos Roddy is an American video game composer. He has most notably worked on the most recent Minecraft soundtracks, as well as Kingdom Two Crowns, Ball x Pit, Cloud Gardens, and the Citizen Sleeper series among other projects.

Career

[edit]

Roddy began composing video game soundtracks at the age of 29 after having worked on music since his childhood.[1] He is first credited on IMDb with the soundtrack of Kingdom: Classic in 2015 and four other games through 2020,[2] and his official website includes other projects as well as a 5-track EP.[3]

It was in 2020 that he was then contacted by Mojang, the Swedish game development company known for Minecraft.[1] Following the loss of partnership with former Minecraft composer C418 over music ownership disagreements,[4] Mojang began reaching out to other composers to try and replicate his style that had defined the soundtrack up until that point. Among these was Roddy due to his style's similarities with C418's,[1] however he wouldn't release his first EP for Minecraft until 2025 with the original soundtrack of the "Chase the Skies" update.[5]
