Ansil Jaleel is an Indian student political leader affiliated with the Kerala Students Union (KSU), the student wing of the Indian National Congress in Kerala. He served as a state-level office bearer of KSU and came to public attention following legal proceedings related to allegations concerning a degree certificate.[1]
Political career
[edit]Ansil Jaleel has been associated with the Kerala Students Union (KSU) and held the position of State Convener. He has been involved in student political activities and organizational work within the student wing of the Indian National Congress in Kerala.[2]
Legal issues and investigation
[edit]In June 2023, Kerala Police registered a case against Ansil Jaleel following allegations that a degree certificate submitted by him was forged. The case was registered to verify the genuineness of the certificate after a complaint was filed.[3]
Jaleel denied the allegations, stating that the claims were false and politically motivated, and approached the Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail.[4]
The Kerala High Court granted interim anticipatory bail and later considered the bail plea after hearing submissions from both sides.[5]
In related developments, the University of Kerala sought a broader probe into cases involving forged certificates allegedly used by student organisation activists, including those affiliated with KSU or Students' Federation of India.[6]
In January 2024, Kerala Police submitted a report stating that no evidence was found to substantiate the allegation of certificate forgery against Jaleel, effectively giving him a clean chit in the case.[7][8]
