Price Bailey

[edit]

Price Bailey LLP is a firm of chartered accountants based in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire.[1] Founded in 1938,[2] the firm operates as a limited liability partnership and provides professional services in the United Kingdom and overseas.[3] Independent industry publications have reported on its mergers,[4][5] leadership changes,[6] and position[7][8] within the UK accountancy sector.

History

[edit]

Price Bailey was founded in 1938 by Leslie Benten[9] in Bishop’s Stortford. Stanley Price joined the firm in 1943 and became a partner in 1947. Reginald Bailey[10] became a partner in 1950, after which the firm adopted the name Benten, Price and Bailey. Following Benten’s departure in 1956, the firm was renamed Price Bailey and Partners.[11]

During the second half of the twentieth century, the firm expanded through the establishment of additional offices in East Anglia, and London.[12]

In the early 2000s, Price Bailey acquired Stephenson Davies[13] and converted to a limited liability partnership in 2004.

In 2023, Price Bailey acquired Stephenson Smart and Co,[14] establishing a presence in Peterborough. Further expansion in London followed in 2025 with the acquisition of Oliver Clive & Co.[15]
