Title

[edit]

Why is this article titled 'Elizabeth II' instead of 'Queen Elizabeth II"? ~2025-33774-94 (talk) 22:30, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Commonwealth

[edit]

The sidebar calls her head of the Commonwealth, yet there is no map showing the countries of the Commonwealth, which includes independent India as well as countries of wich she is or was head of state. ~2025-33774-94 (talk) 22:52, 16 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Are you suggesting we add a map of the Commonwealth to the article? GothicGolem29 (Talk) 01:23, 26 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This map does exist in a form under the Decolonisation page where it probably belongs. I would argue that a certain version of it could belong on the EIIR article, such as an evolution of the countries that EIIR was queen thereof. I do think that in the absence of such an evolution of the map approach, care would need to be taken in order to remain compliant with WP:NPOV Andreiflorea993 (talk) 15:03, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Year of death in introduction

[edit]

Is it necessary to talk about her death in 2022 in the introductory sentence when her date of death is already included? I'm aware this is a precedent in all other articles, but could this be worth changing in all of them for the sake of conciseness and not repeating already given information? For monarchs whose reign ended before their death it would naturally be different, but they are in a large minority. Csexton345 (talk) 14:20, 8 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's unnecessary repetition. Celia Homeford (talk) 14:54, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I personally don't care one way or another but if a change is implemented here it has to replicated for all her predecessors since the intro follows the same structure for all British (and English/Scottish) monarchs. Keivan.fTalk 15:17, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. ItsShandog (talk) 15:22, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The introductory sentence currently reads Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary; 21 April 1926 – 8 September 2022) was Queen of the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth realms from 6 February 1952 until her death in 2022. The "until her death in 2022" bit is redundant with the parenthetical dates, sure; it serves primarily to provide a link to the article about her death. Removing "in 2022" but leaving "until her death" would read very oddly: the role held by a BLP subject almost always ceases with their death. But if we want to keep a link to the death and state funeral article, we need to keep the whole clause. Rosbif73 (talk) 15:25, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It wouldn’t read oddly, as many pages use that style; for example, William the Conqueror's article states his reign lasted until his death. I think this looks cleaner, since the death date has already been established a few words before. ItsShandog (talk) 15:31, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
However, when looking at subsequent pages, most do include the year. If consensus were to remove it, this would require changes across a significant number of articles. I agree with @Keivan.f, although I have no strong preference either way. If consensus supports removing the year, I would be happy to help update many of the pages. ItsShandog (talk) 15:37, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The link to Death and state funeral of Elizabeth II should be removed. Since those events didn't occur the same day. Same should be done in her predecessors' pages. GoodDay (talk) 15:34, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see a problem with the links to be honest. They are article that specifically revolve around their deaths and the events that followed and the dates of death are clarified both in the main articles and the articles covering the deaths. Keivan.fTalk 15:51, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It would be obvious to most readers that they didn’t occur on the same day, and the death and state funeral page's makes it perfectly clear that they didn’t. ItsShandog (talk) 16:08, 9 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

List of Prime Ministers

[edit]

I wanted to add a list of prime ministers in the Reign section akin to the Queen Victoria Article. I will add the table here for review before submitting it publicly. Andreiflorea993 (talk) 13:50, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Does that add any value? Would it not be better to just link to List of prime ministers of the United Kingdom? DeCausa (talk) 14:00, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You might be right, I thought it would add visual value, for those who are searching for something in relation to EIIR. It felt very organic on the Victoria article.
