In the ‘Haileselassie Era’ section, there is a huge picture of Victor Emanuel of Italy. Although it is historically accurate, the picture tries to over-shadow Ethiopia’s struggle against Italy’s fascist invasion. Picture needs to be removed or minimized. Victor Emmanuel III

Victor Emmanuel III although being so called "Emperor" of Ethiopia (It was never officially recognized by the Ethiopian authorities nor the League of Nations) in during the occupation it seems to legitimize his reign as a colonial force, although Ethiopia technically was never colonized, rather than starting an edit war: can we vote to whether we should include his image in this page, since it seems to be counterproductive and may make readers think he was actually the Emperor of Ethiopia and not realize he was a mere occupier rather than a colonial ruler. Although the user who added the page claimed Hitler was not added in France page even if France was under direct and full occupation of Germany, under the users words since "It is not like Hitler" according to the editor's words it wasn't added, i think we should discuss whether that claim is legitimate. Casual readers may think Emmanuel III was an actual Emperor of Ethiopia although he was an occupier who then renounced any claim to that title as legitimate. The editor's edit seems unconstructive and for casual readers who do not know the nuances of the actual Emperor(s) of Ethiopia and a rare occupation force who held a title of such while it was not recognized. The user who added the image was indefinitely blocked by an administrator who believes they are purposefully spreading information that may cause problems for clear understanding for all members and readers of the encyclopedia. If a vote doesn't occur within 5-10 days or any input, i would remove the image added by the blocked user. CtasACT (talk) 19:46, 4 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

CtasACT: I have removed the offending image. It appears the image was being used incorrectly, depicting the King and House of Savoy instead of Benito Mussolini. This misrepresentation is problematic, especially given the context of Fascist expansionist policy. If a leader needs to be mentioned, referencing Mussolini directly is more appropriate when discussing the political motivations behind the occupation. I suspect this may be part of a pattern of vandalism. I have removed other vandalism relating to Italian history and the House of Savoy, but I see that the editor has made other changes to topics related to pages concerning Ethiopia. If you are knowledgeable about those topics, please look into the changes and try to help with post-vandalism restoration.
