Please change "...and have engaged in ambushes, bombings, and assassinations of..." to "...and have engaged in ambushes, bombings, and assassinations of..." so that it is more clear that the link is referring to the timeline of communist rebellion instead of engagement in its military context. Name of the country

[edit]

I believe the Spanish name of the Philippines, “República de Filipinas,” should be added to the country’s official name listings. I attempted to edit it myself, but I do not have the necessary permissions. If anyone with editing privileges could consider making this change, I would appreciate it. Spanish is recognized as a minority language in the Philippines, and I believe it deserves to be included alongside the other official language representations. —From a random Filipino りえさん (talk) 11:42, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Spanish is not one of the main official languages, it has a very limited status along with a number of other languages. CMD (talk) 12:02, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
the Wikipedia page for Western Sahara, which was also formerly colonized by Spain, has its Spanish name—even though Spanish is not widely spoken there today. Given that, I believe there is also value in including the Spanish name on the Philippines’ Wikipedia page. What do you think about this?
(Sorry for replied too much, but i hope you to add Spanish name. Thank you for replying.) りえさん (talk) 12:10, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You can see the language statuses in the constitution. The 'ranking' so to speak is Filipino, English, regional languages, and then Arabic/Spanish. Western Sahara is a disputed territory with no single constitution, for countries we generally use the primary official languages. CMD (talk) 14:34, 26 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
OK understood.
