Arabic Name

[edit]

... has to be beside the hebrew. From WP:PLACE: "Relevant foreign language names (one used by at least 10% of sources in the English language or is used by a group of people which used to inhabit this geographical place) are permitted." Could someone who is competent, add it? --Severino (talk) 7:17 pm, Today (UTC+1)

There is no Arabic name except the Yafo/Jaffa name of the old city of Jaffa, which is already in the article. Itamarro (talk) 04:09, 4 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Average high / Mean maximum temperature difference?

[edit]

I am a bit confused because "average high" and "mean maximum" temperatures are very different for this city, but for me, these two expressions seem to mean the same. Could someone competent add a clarification about the difference between these two, preferably with citation?

Describing Tel Aviv's Popularity

[edit]

Description of suggested change: Change the description of the populous nature of Tel Aviv to sympathize with the ongoing genocide against Palestinians [1][2] and the unjust colonization of their land as a result of Zionism (the Wikipedia article discussing the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict literally describes this).[3] I firmly believe that this information, even otherwise, is unnecessary to the description of Tel Aviv.

More specifically, change "If East Jerusalem is considered part of Israel, Tel Aviv is the country's second-most-populous city, after Jerusalem; if not, Tel Aviv is the most populous city, ahead of West Jerusalem," to just "Tel Aviv is the most populous city," or just simply delete it entirely as this was already stated earlier in the article.

Diff:

If East Jerusalem is considered part of Israel, Tel Aviv is the country's second-most-populous city, after Jerusalem; if not, Tel Aviv is the most populous city, ahead of West Jerusalem.[a]
+
Tel Aviv is the most populous city.

Not done: I don't see the correlation between that and a comparison of population statistics. I also don't see how describing the population of a city is unnecessary to an article about the city itself. Sophisticatedevening🍷(talk) 20:53, 20 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Mistake in infobox

[edit]

Current view: "• City 495,600[1]

• Rank	2nd in Israel
 • Rank	12th in Israel" is non-sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.116.236.106 (talk) 15:54, 9 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This part should be deleted from the page:

"If East Jerusalem is considered part of Israel, Tel Aviv is the country's second-most-populous city, after Jerusalem; if not, Tel Aviv is the most populous city, ahead of West Jerusalem.[c]"

Arguments for why: East Jerusalem is not considered part of Israel under international law primarily because it was captured by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War, and its subsequent annexation has not been recognized by the United Nations or most countries. UN Security Council Resolutions 242 and 478 call for Israel's withdrawal from occupied territories, including East Jerusalem, and condemn its annexation. The area is viewed as part of the Palestinian territories, with international law supporting the idea that it should become the capital of a future Palestinian state. The international consensus treats Israel’s control over East Jerusalem as an occupation. ~2025-31663-86 (talk) 10:16, 7 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Let’s keep Wikipedia to a neutral point of view. Besides, why would we remove information that shows how large a city is compared to others? NotJamestack (talk) 12:28, 7 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
