U.S. state templates
[edit]Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. states/state templates lists and displays all 50 U.S. state (and additional other) templates. It potentially can be used for ideas and standardization. //MrD9 07:16, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Standardization of state templates
[edit]There is currently an ongoing discussion regarding standardization of state templates (primarily regarding layout and styling) at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject U.S. states/state templates. An effort was made earlier this year to standardize Canadian province templates (which mostly succeeded). Lovelac7 and I have already begun standardizing all state templates. If you have any concerns, they should be directed toward the discussion page for state template standardization. Thanks! — Webdinger BLAH | SZ 22:43, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

REMOVE 'Brownsburg' from 'Largest towns' section: 1) Brownsburg is a city, not a town. 2) Currently in the 'Largest cities' section, only cities with a population of 30,000 (2010 Census) or more are included. If Brownsburg were to be listed under largest cities with a population of only 25,911, seven other more populous cities higher than Brownsburg but lower than 30,000 would be denied inclusion. arbitrary cutoff
[edit]i don't see why we would indicate cities and towns with population inclusion criteria. this would require constant updating. listing the page will prevent readers from being mislead and remove misinformation when the data is out of date.Logoshimpo (talk) 03:35, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
- It does not require constant updating, and nobody is being misled. The US conducts a census every ten years when it has a functioning government, and only a tiny handful of cities or towns will go below or above the population cutoff at any given census. We update articles for municipalities when there is a new census; doing so for a few navboxes is comparably trivial. Please drop this stick. You do not have consensus for it. I will not reply at the talk page for every navbox that you have posted this same message for; this one covers all of them. – Jonesey95 (talk) 07:00, 12 February 2026 (UTC)
- the template is much larger and gives undue weight to those cities and towns being listed. the cutoff is arbitrary and including them on this template is not an improvement [not to mention that it is much larger than necessary]. Logoshimpo (talk) 06:53, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
- The above statements reflect YOUR opinion. No one else agrees with you across any of the numerous templates you have tried to bend to your will. Heed Jonesey95's advice. WP:DROPTHESTICK and move on. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 15:04, 13 February 2026 (UTC)

Pruning navboxes
[edit]A discussion on whether certain US state navigation boxes should be pruned or otherwise systematically altered is at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject United States#Pruning navboxes. Please comment there. Johnuniq (talk) 06:38, 15 February 2026 (UTC)
