Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Jeremy Cooney press conference February 2026.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Jeremy Cooney press conference February 2026.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Johnj1995 (talk) 18:04, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Johnj1995, thanks for flagging this. The image source, Senator Cooney's official NYS Senate newsroom page, has a Photography Usage section explicitly licensing press images under CC BY-SA 4.0. I'll update the file description page to reflect the correct free license. Dthekay (talk) 19:26, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Corn Hill Arts Festival when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Note I have likely fixed the error by now so check the history of the page to see how it was fixed. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 19:19, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the feedback, Zackmann. I apologize for the unknown parameters in the infobox. I've reviewed your fix in the page history and will make sure to use Show preview and verify template parameters going forward. Much appreciated. Dthekay (talk) 21:00, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Good attitude! We all make mistakes! Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 02:53, 20 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I will point out that you did the same thing at Eastman Theatre...Please also return to that page and remove the red categories per WP:REDNOT Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 02:55, 20 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Done -- I've removed the six red categories from Eastman Theatre. Sorry about that, and thanks again for catching it. Dthekay (talk) 03:04, 20 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Yup. Keep learning. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 03:04, 20 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
You have now done this a third time at ImageOut... Do you not understand how WP:PREVIEW works? Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 05:30, 20 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
And AGAIN on Village Gate Square... Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 05:58, 20 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits are becoming disruptive. You have been warned multiple times about the need to use preview to check your edits, yet you continue to introduce unknown parameters into articles. You did this again at Village Gate Square when you modified the page, you once again did this. If you continue your disruptive editing, you may find yourself blocked from editing. Please take the time to review your edits moving forward. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 05:59, 20 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads-up, Johnj1995. You're right -- this fails WP:NFC#UUI as a non-free image of a living person. I've removed the image from the article. Dthekay (talk) 23:06, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Writers & Books requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Re: Disruptive editing

[edit]

Hi Zackmann08, thank you for the corrections and for taking the time to fix the infobox parameters on those articles. I apologize for the repeated issues with unknown parameters — I was creating several articles across many different infobox templates in a short period of time and wasn't double-checking the valid parameter names carefully enough for each one. I should have been previewing more thoroughly and consulting the template documentation rather than assuming parameter names. I understand that each template has its own specific whitelist and that what seems intuitive (like "organized_by" or "built") may not match the actual accepted parameter name. I'll make sure to preview every edit and verify parameters against the template docs going forward. Please be patient with me, I'm still learning. Thanks again for your patience and for cleaning those up. Dthekay (talk) 11:54, 20 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Zackmann08: Hey — sorry about all the unknown params. I went back and checked my other articles against the template whitelists and fixed the same issue on a bunch of them:

Checking the template source before I publish from now on. Dthekay (talk) 12:27, 20 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
